Dr. Marie DiCowden, a nationally known healthcare psychologist and behavioral medicine specialist, is Executive Director of The Biscayne Institutes of Health and Living, Inc. in Aventura, Florida. Her work at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital to establish a program for the psychological and physical rehabilitation of children and adults with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, and chronic diseases led to her founding The Biscayne Institutes in 1988. This innovative healthcare community model provides integrative care for disabled children and adults as well as health programs for mind and body for all members of the community.

A magna cum laude graduate and Phi Beta Kappa from George Washington University, Marie is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, and a Fellow of the National Association of Practitioners. She writes and lectures extensively, both nationally and internationally, on issues of disability, healthcare, and healthcare policy. She has also provided expert testimony for the legal community and has testified in both State and Federal hearings on the need for patient care and healthcare reform.
